How to Set Up and Use a Health Provider Account

Learn how to set up and use your Health Provider account on Goodlabs.

If you’re a healthcare provider, you can update your Goodlabs account to a Health Provider account to access additional features for working with patients or clients.

Health Provider accounts allow you to manage clients, request access to their health information, and order or recommend lab tests for them.

Set Up Your Health Provider Account

To update your account:

  1. Sign in to your Goodlabs account.

  2. Go to My Profile.

  3. Scroll down to your account settings.

  4. Check the box for Health Provider, then choose your Provider Type.

Once your account is updated, additional provider features will become available under Sharing.

Access Your Clients

After setting your account as a Health Provider, go to Sharing in the left-side panel.

A Clients section will be available under Sharing where you can manage the people you work with.

From here, you can:

  • Invite clients to connect with you on Goodlabs.

  • Request access to a client's health profile.

  • Request permission to order tests on their behalf.

  • View and manage existing client connections.

  • Review pending sharing requests.

Invite a Client

From the left-side panel of your Goodlabs account, click Sharing, then select Clients. Click the Invite Clients button in the top-right corner to add a new client.

Choose the permissions you need based on how you'll be working with the client.

Request Access to a Client's Health Profile

If you need to view a client's health information, request View Health Profile permission.

Once the client approves the request, this permission may allow you to view shared health information such as:

  • Lab reports

  • Biomarkers

  • Action plans

  • Saved files

The client remains in control of their health information and must approve the sharing request before you can access it.

Request Permission to Order Tests

If you need to order or recommend lab tests for a client, request permission to Order Tests on Their Behalf.

Once approved, you can select the client through Sharing and begin choosing tests for them.

Depending on how you want to proceed, you may be able to:

  • Pay for Them — purchase the selected tests on the client's behalf.

  • Recommend Test(s) — send the selected tests to the client so they can review and complete the order themselves.

Ordering tests for a client does not automatically give you access to their results. You must also have View Health Profile permission to view their shared health information.

Managing Sharing Requests

Sharing requests remain pending until the recipient approves them.

You can review pending and existing connections from Sharing.

Depending on the request, available options may include:

  • Reviewing the requested permissions

  • Editing sharing details

  • Canceling a pending request

  • Managing an existing client's access

Once a request has been approved, the available client information and actions will depend on the permissions granted.

Approving a Sharing Request

If a client sends you a Sharing request, sign in to your Goodlabs account and open Sharing to review it.

Before accepting, review:

  • Who sent the request

  • The type of connection

  • The permissions being requested or offered

Approve the request if the connection and permissions are correct.

Once approved, the connection will appear with your existing clients or connections, and the applicable Sharing permissions will become active.

Ordering or Recommending Tests for a Client

Once you have permission to order for a client:

  1. Go to Sharing.

  2. Click Client.

  3. Choose the appropriate client.

  4. Select Order Tests.

  5. Confirm that the correct client is displayed as the person you're currently ordering for.

  6. Select the appropriate tests or panels.

  7. Continue through the ordering process.

  8. Choose whether to Pay for Them or Recommend Test(s), when available.

Always confirm that you're ordering for the correct person before proceeding.
