Sharing on Goodlabs: How It Works

Learn how to share and access health information and place orders for others on Goodlabs.

Goodlabs allows you to securely share access to health information and lab ordering with people you trust. Sharing can be used by families, caregivers, healthcare providers, patients, and anyone managing healthcare collaboratively.

Note for Healthcare Providers: If you are a healthcare provider, you can set your Goodlabs account as a provider by going to My Profile → Settings and checking the Health Provider option.

Health Provider: Check this option if you intend to use Goodlabs as a provider and would like access to your provider dashboard.

What Is Sharing?

The Sharing feature lets you connect your Goodlabs account with another person and choose what they are allowed to do.

Depending on the permissions you select, you can:

  • Give someone access to view your health profile.

  • Allow someone to order lab tests on your behalf.

  • Request access to another person's health profile.

  • Request permission to order or recommend lab tests for someone else.

  • Share access with each other.

You remain in control of the permissions associated with your account. Access can be reviewed, changed, or removed as needed.

Types of Sharing

When adding a new connection, Goodlabs will ask what type of access you would like to set up.

Request Access

Choose Request access when you want permission to interact with another person's Goodlabs account.

Depending on the permissions they approve, you may be able to:

  • View their health profile.

  • Order or recommend lab tests for them.

Give Access

Choose Give access when you want another person to have permission to interact with your Goodlabs account.

You can allow them to:

  • View your health profile.

  • Order lab tests on your behalf.

Both

Choose Both when you and the other person want to share access with each other. Each person's access will depend on the permissions that have been granted.

Sharing Permissions

Goodlabs allows you to control what a connection can access.

Can View Health

This permission allows the approved connection to view shared health information associated with your Goodlabs profile, including:

  • Lab reports

  • Biomarkers

  • Action plans

  • Saved files

Can Order Tests

This permission allows the approved connection to place and manage lab orders on your behalf.

Mutual Access

Mutual access means both people have agreed to share access with each other. The specific information and actions available will depend on the permissions granted by each person.

Your Privacy and Control

Sharing access does not automatically give another person unrestricted access to your Goodlabs account.

You control the permissions you grant to each connection and can review or change those permissions as needed.

When someone orders lab tests for another person, the lab results are delivered to the person being tested. The person who placed the order can only view those results if they have been granted View Health Profile permission.
